Beauty Buffet

- This week saw the much anticipated release of GlossyBox UK; a savvy system that allows you to experience samples of high-end beauty products for just £10 a month. I have to say the first box - in terms of value alone - is strikingly impressive. Featuring both a FULL SIZED Nars Orgasm Illuminator (rrp £21.50) and All For Eve Lipstick (rrp £10.50) I've been hugely impressed with the quality on offer, not to mention the beautiful packaging. Whilst I already own the Nars' product, it'll make a fantastic back up or present. The sceptical part of me is interested to see what Box 2 has in-store, but if it carries on at this rate then By Jove! This is definitely a scheme to sign up to!

- This week myself and a quartet of awesome beauty bloggers were given the amazing opportunity to guest blog on Heatworld - check it out by clicking here!

- I you love nail varnish. I love burgers. So I can't help but be disturbingly drawn to Burgers & Nails. So gorgeous yet so, so greasy!

- Highstreet favourites Cowshed and Whistles have teamed up to produce one of the most summery collaborations on the market. Packaged in gorgeous bright red bottles embellished with a quirky hoof/heart/polka dot motif, this mini collection will not only look amazing on your bathroom shelf, but also keep your skin in tip top condition. Buy either in store or online here.

- And finally, this Thurday is the Beauty Bite's 1st birthday! We'll be celebrating all week by looking back at some of my favourite products and posts - plus, you could win over £150 worth of skincare - pop back tomorrow to find out all!

Five Minute Face

Don't try and deny it, after all, we all have one; that make up look we repeatedly pull together as we clamber to leave the house with just 5 minutes to spare. Whilst the words 'safe' and 'boring' might be the best way to describe mine, as far as a quick spruce up goes it's pretty hard to fall out of line with this neutral palette. Using bright and light colours to lift the complexion, this has become my staple look on those mornings when I literally can't be arsed. Elegant, huh? Here's a quick look at today's rushed attempt:

Base: Max Factor Smooth Effect Foundation (review coming soon)
Eyes: MAC Nylon Eye Shadow, Edward Bess Pure Impact Mascara (review coming soon)
Lips: MAC Mocha Lipstick
Cheeks: Topshop Desert Sun (review coming soon)

What products and colours do you tend to use on your 5 minute face? Do you dare to adventure day to day? Please tell me I'm not the only lazy one.

Seriously. Please...

Bite Size Beauty

Looking good on the go can be tricky at times, but travel needn't ever affect your beauty and skincare regime thanks to these purse friendly goodies...

Clinique Superbalm Moisturising Gloss: Grapefruit
This gorgeous tube of sheer pale pink perfection is the ideal handbag gloss. Possessing a subtle white shimmer, this comfortable formula can be currently snapped up for a mere £2 with Glamour magazine. Bargainous!

Nothing beats a relaxing bath, and this rich blend of Jersey Lavender and Ylang Ylang essential oils is quite possibly one of the most stress busting foams on the market. This nifty 60ml travel size is perfect for adding instant luxury to weekends away, although, I'd be rather tempted to go the whole hog and grab a 300ml...

Nicole Kidman, Keira Knightley, Claudia Schiffer...these are just some of the names who swear by this deliciously natural vanilla monoi balm. Priced at £10, the quirky cube packaging is simply another reason to love this hugely hydrating mix. Fantastic for pre-matte lipstick prep.

With 91% of it's ingredients sourced from natural origins, this floral scented alcohol free toner will instantly whip your skin into tip top shape. Bringing a lovely fresh glow to the complexion, these travel sized bottles can be picked up for free from most Space NK stores generous sample drawers.

Retailing at £5.10 for a cute pack of six, these soft bristle, bamboo handle brushes are great for application of the go. Suitable for use with eyeshadows, lipsticks, blushes and liners, these vegan friendly tools are great quality for such tiny instruments.

If you're looking for a travel scent then search no more! These generously sized 15ml glass bottles have been reduced to a fantastic £4.50. Small to carry and small in cost, if you're looking for a sweet smelling mother's day gift then these really are a great investment. (Although, if you can, do buy this toilette in store, delivery costs will set you back a whopping £5 - more than the product itself!)

The Beauty Bite Loves - Call It Beauty

Feasting on all things gorgeous, Dani - the brains behind one of my all time favourite blogs - is most certainly a lady of great taste.
Primarily a beauty blog, fans of fashion will also adore Call It Beauty's coverage of catwalk collections and movie star style. If you're a fan of old school glamour, vivid eye make up, and affordable yet hard working cosmetics then this blog is definitely one for you. Check it out!

The Beauty Bite Loves - Best Of Beaute

We all have our favourite blogs, and here at Beauty Bite HQ we love nothing more than sharing a true treasure. Best Of Beaute is without a doubt one of the most gorgeous and informative blogs I've ever stumbled across - using crystal clear photography to cover a wide range of brands and products, her Barry M nail varnish swatch chart is quite simply a wonder to behold.

Well written, beautifully shot and possessing quite possibly the nicest nails known to mankind, Best Of Beaute is blogging perfection. If you haven't already marvelled at it's gorgeousness then head over to bestofbeaute.blogspot now!

Also, she's clearly a girl who appreciates the joys of typography, and for that I salute her...

The Beauty Bite's Best Of 2010 - Part 2

And so begins round two of our yearly favourites...enjoy!

Max Factor Xperience Weightless Foundation

Since originally reviewing this product back in September, thousands of you have logged onto the Beauty Bite to check out it's credentials. This is by far the foundation I get the most e-mails, messages and comments about - and the general consensus seems to be that you absolutely love it!
With a similar texture to that of Armani's Face Fabric, this long wearing, soft feeling foundation is ideal for providing a perfect natural looking complexion.

Nars Multiple Tint

For some reason the beauty world didn't seem to give these tints the love they deserved; after all, my cheeks literally lived in these sheer pops of jelly coloured goodness for most of the summer. Suitable for use as both a blush and lip colour, these stains last for hours and look unbelievably natural when blended into the skin. Perhaps I was simply blinded by lust, but Turks/Caicos was definitely my holiday romance of the year.

Le Metier De Beaute Magic Lustre Cream

If Paul Daniels was to transform himself into any item of cosmetics, then this is probably what he'd be. Possessing the ability to turn any powder based product into a glistening creme, this sheer and sticky glaze allows you to create your very own make up. By simply mixing a swatch of product with De Beaute's clever formula, you can literally triple your collection in a matter of seconds. Blush for a lip colour? I don't mind if I do...

By Terry Touche Veloutee Highlighting Concealer

Terry De Gunzburg is the brains behind one of the world's most iconic and best selling make up products: Touche Eclat. It's for this reason alone that I struggle to think of anyone who would be better qualified for making a rival. Touche Veloutee is a nourishing botanical affair that both plumps and lifts the under eye, offering far more pigmentation then it's older sibling. Better value for your money (costing £5 more than YSL, you actually get an extra 4ml of product) and beautifully scented, I simply adore this formula.

Nude Advanced Cellular Renewal Serum

I love this product. It leaves my skin positively glowing and is ideal for applying before moisturiser to help repair any damage to my complexion. Without a doubt my number 1 product of the year.

*Don't forget there is still 7 days to claim 20% off a 30ml bottle by using the exclusive Beauty Bite discount code 'perfect skin' when purchasing from nudeskincare.com.*

If you are interested in trying this serum but hate the price then check out Nude's original Advanced Soothing Complex Serum which is currently on sale for £24. Designed to stimulate cell renewal, this will give you a taster for just a fraction of the cost.

So that's it! Those are just 10 of the many, many products that have caught my eye and impressed me greatly throughout the year. What have been your top items of 2010? Share your own lists in the comments below!

The Beauty Bite's Best Of 2010 - Part 1

From soon to be cult classics to purely personal stand outs, here's the first half of the Beauty Bite's Best of 2010...

Shu Uemura Instant Glow Skin Perfecting Cream

Launched last Autumn to a wave of outstanding praise, it's safe to say this product is set to become a kit must have. Working as a prolonged radiance treatment, this pre-make up moisturiser helps both renew the complexion and create the appearance of an instant, visible glow. Whilst Touche Eclat allows the under eyes to disguise a multitude of sins, Stage Performer creates the illusion of an entire face free from fatigue. I'm completely smitten.

Nars Douceur Blush

Beautiful AND limited edition - isn't that always the way? Sheer yet certainly stunningly, this is the perfect natural shade for adding both a hint of warmth and depth to all manner of skin tones. Still available to buy online, if you missed out on purchase this summer then it's not too late to grab a pan.

Revlon ColorBurst Lipsticks

Creamy, pigmented and unashamedly bold; this is purse friendly lip formula at it's best. Retailing at £7.99, these beautifully packaged lippies offer a performance worthy of a product double the price. Amongst the shades on offer, Peach has most definitely won our heart. An absolutely brilliant nude for those of you with naturally more pigmented lips.

Maybelline Lash Stiletto Voluptuous

Coming second in the very first Beauty Bite Mascara Wars, this curved wand is the ultimate budget friendly mascara for adding length, definition and volume. Whilst the brush may feel slightly alien at first, the results are impressive to say the least.

Bobbi Brown Rose Highlighter Pen

OK, so I'm a sucker for all things Bobbi but this highlighter pen really is something special. Launched as part of this autumn's Denim and Rose collection, this non sticky liquid is the perfect blend of shimmer and glow - ideal for adding radiance that won't accentuate any flaws on the skin. Arguably better suited for summer months, this rides high on my finds of the year.

*Stayed Tuned For Part Two - Coming Soon*

The Beauty Bite Detox: We Need You!

This January we want you to join us in a detox of a very special kind...

From January 1st 2011 we'll be celebrating the new year and all that mother nature gave us by embarking in a week long cosmetics cleanse. For 7 days we'll be banishing the blusher, giving up the gloss and letting go of the lippy - and we'd love you, our beautiful readers, to join in.

If you fancy embracing the challenge and baring all - if only for a day - then please send in a HQ snap of your face completely au naturel. We'll be featuring them on the site over the course of the week so make sure to include your name, your blog (if applicable) and a brief paragraph of how you feel stripped free of foundation. Send your pictures now so that we can post them up during the 7 days to coincide with the Beauty Bite detox.

If you want to take part then simply e-mail 1 picture and the requested information to thebeautybite@hotmail.com. We'll try and include as many as we can and would love to cover a diverse range of ages - as they so often say; the more the merrier!

Thank you in advance to everyone taking part - we know it's a bit of a scary task, but hey! We're in it together!
